The MCRS is mandated by law and otherwise to collect assigned revenues by way of the taxes and fees and to provide such other assigned service for the Government of Montserrat. The Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service is responsible for collecting over 80% of locally generated revenue.

Inland Revenue
The Comptroller of Inland Revenue Department, who holds responsibility for the administration of most direct taxes on the island, reports directly to the Financial Secretary who in turn reports to the Minister of Finance.
