Montserrat Customs & Revenue Service

The MCRS is mandated by law and otherwise to collect assigned revenues by way of the taxes and fees and to provide such other assigned service for the Government of Montserrat. The Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service is responsible for collecting over 80% of locally generated revenue.

Customs

The principal roles of the Customs Service include exercising customs control on the commercial international exchange. Assessing and collecting customs duties and taxes, fighting against smuggling activity and counteracting customs fraud.

Inland Revenue

The Comptroller of Inland Revenue Department, who holds responsibility for the administration of most direct taxes on the island, reports directly to the Financial Secretary who in turn reports to the Minister of Finance.
